ELECTRIC SYSTEM
Problem
Alternator Noise.
Starter motor does not turn.
Motor runs in only one direction.
Motor runs extremely hot.
Motor runs but with insufficient power,
or with slow line speed.
Motor runs but drum does not rotate.

Possible Cause
1. Badly worn belt.
2. Pulleys out of alignment.
3. Loose pulley.
4. Worn bearings.
5. Short in rectifier diodes.
1. Open circuit, dirty
connections.
2. Bad starter relay (diesel engines
only).
3. Bad ignition switch.
4. Worn starter motor, bad starter
solenoid, or internal problem in
engine.
5. Dead battery.
6. Parking brake not engaged.
7. Bad neutral start relay.
1. Defective solenoid

1. Replace belt and adjust.
2. Align fan and alternator pulleys.
3. Check for broken key or worn
keyway, if used.Tighten pulley nut.
4. Replace or repair alternator.

and connections between ignition
switch and starter solenoid.
