LE_ARP Response Policy for Route Descriptors
This is an additional policy for responding to LE_ARP requests when the
specified ELAN is a Token Ring ELAN and when the LAN destination is a
route descriptor. This policy is used in conjunction with the LE_ARP
response policy and is applicable only when the "Respond" option is
selected in that policy.
When the "Respond" policy is selected, the address table of the LES in
the CoreBuilder 7000 is searched for the LAN destination. If the LAN
destination is not found, then this additional policy gives the operator the
option to reject the LE_ARP request. That is, he can select between the
two options as shown in Table 41:

The LEC sends unknown, multicast and broadcast frames to the BUS for
distribution to other clients. The LE standard limits the amount of
unknown unicast frames sent to the BUS. The address resolution
mechanism is used during the initialization process to provide the ATM
address of the BUS for unknown, multicast and broadcast traffic, and
connection management provides a point-to-point VCC over which to
send such frames. The BUS sets up a point-to-multipoint connection for
distributing the received frames to all the ELAN members. The BUS sends
all flooded unicast frames, broadcast and multicast frames over its
Multicast Forward VCC.
Statistics of network structure and message flow for LES, BUS and LECS
can be displayed by management. For more information, see "LAN
Emulation Statistics" on page 346 in the Management Guide.
