workstations to the ATM network. Workstations with ATMLink Adapters
supporting connectivity to SONET/SDH for S-BUS platform can be
connected directly to the CoreBuilder 7000 family ATM switch.
The CoreBuilder 7000 Family ATM Switch with a Workgroup
Using IP over ATM, you can implement the CoreBuilder 7000 family ATM
switch as the high-speed connection for servers and workstations in a
workgroup. In this topology, servers and workstations with very high
bandwidth requirements for applications such as high-speed imaging or
multimedia transmission are connected through ATM adapters to the
CoreBuilder 7000 family ATM switch.

Figure 4 shows the CoreBuilder 7000 family ATM switch deployed with
two servers and numerous workstations. Each server and workstation has
an ATM adapter, allowing full rate use of IP over ATM and eliminating the
need for any other network protocol. The CoreBuilder 7000 family ATM
switch has the capacity for up to 16 interface ports, allowing
combinations of servers and workstations with this number.
Multiple Switch IP Routed Network
In addition to the simple workgroup configuration described previously,
you can configure multiple CoreBuilder 7000 family ATM switches in a
