VLANs in the
CoreBuilder 7000
A VLAN in the CoreBuilder 7000 family ATM switch is defined simply as
an Emulated LAN together with all Ethernet segments and servers
attached to it. The Ethernet segments are represented in the ELAN by
LECs. Figure 55 shows a diagram of such an ATM-based ELAN. The LECs
and the application server are part of the ELAN and the Ethernet
segments are external to the ELAN.

Multiple VLANs can operate independently on a single ATM network;
each VLAN corresponds to a distinct ELAN.The CoreBuilder 7000 family
ATM switch supports 16 ELANs, enabling 16 VLANs to be set up in one
CoreBuilder 7000 ATM switch. A CoreBuilder 7000 family ATM switch
ELAN can be set up to emulate LANs of different types including
VLANs in the CoreBuilder 7000
