Configuring a Port on
Change of
Attachment
4 Sends a coldStart Trap to its peer IME entity to indicate the interface is
restarting.
5 Reinvokes any automatic configuration procedure.
6 Performs address registration, if necessary.
7 Declares ILMI Connectivity to be re-established.
Normally, system power-on is the event that initiates automatic
configuration of ATM interfaces of the switch by ILMI.
In addition, the ILMI of the CoreBuilder 7000 family ATM switch
automatically reconfigures a port when it detects a change in attachment
at that port, that is, when an ATM device is removed from or attached to
the port.
Detection of change of attachment is performed by the same ILMI polling
facility that verifies link connectivity, except that the following variables
are polled:

atmfPortMyIfIdentifier

sysUpTime

atmfMySystemIdentifier

Network Management IP address
The IME compares the current values of these objects, returned in an ILMI
response message, with the local copies of these objects.
[Enable the Change of Attachment Point mechanism only if the peer IME
is also running ILMI version 4.0. Multiple-variable polling is not supported
by previous ILMI versions and can cause the interface to malfunction.
If the returned values of atmfPortMyIfIdentifier or
atmfMySystemIdentifier are different from the local copies, or if the
returned value of sysUpTime is less than the local copy, the IME declares
that the attachment point has changed and performs the following:
1 Declares ILMI connectivity to be lost.
2 Informs its corresponding UNI [UNI4.0] or PNNI [PNNI1.0] signalling entity
to release all SVCs controlled by that entity.
3 Declares ILMI connectivity to be re-established.
4 Reinvokes any automatic configuration procedures.
