Configuring a Port on Change of Attachment
Automatic configuration refers to the ability of the CoreBuilder 7000
family ATM switch to establish, through negotiation, common protocol
parameters for communication between it and an attached ATM device.
The automatic configuration ability can be used only when the attached
device also has an automatic configuration capability. If it does not, you
set the parameters through the LMA. The results of automatic
configuration are used to configure the Signaling/PNNI protocol stack.
Auto-Configuration and Auto-Discovery
The general concept of automatic configuration in the CoreBuilder 7000
switch is comprised of two specific processes, auto-discovery and
auto-configuration, each of which configures a different set of protocol
parameters as shown in Table 6.:

You can enable and disable both auto-discovery and auto-configuration
independently by LMA commands. If you disable one or both of them,
you need to perform the required configurations manually through LMA
