The plate

Check visually if the surface of the plate is rough in order to obtain a perfect wetting
of the plate. If blank spots are already visible on the plate then it should no longer
be used.
Check whether the lower edge of the plate is exactly straight. This can be done by
placing the plate on a plane surface. The light gap between the plate and the
surface must be parallel and not wedge-shaped.
Place the probe in the probe holder. Fill a sample vessel with water, place it on the
sample stage and move it upwards until the plate just does not touch the liquid
surface. The light gap between the plate and the liquid surface must also be exactly
parallel. Use the mirror image of the plate on the liquid surface to asses this gap.

Cleaning the surface of the K11

Use soft cloths, which will not scratch the stainless steel surface, for cleaning the
K11.
Clean the surface of the K11 with pure water and a little rinsing agent if necessary.
For the stainless steel surfaces: Remove dirt that is insoluble in water with a
suitable solvent (e.g. isopropanol).
!
The painted surfaces of the K11 can become dull due to contact with organic
solvents.
