Detection speed

In order to measure surface or interfacial tension the boundary must first be found. This
is done by moving the sample upwards until the contact with the liquid is registered.

The
The pre-set value of 20mm/min should not be altered by very much as otherwise the
determination of the surface or interfacial tension becomes less accurate. In interfacial
tension measurements too rapid movement could also result in the phases becoming
mixed.
In density determination the
as only the approximate height of the surface needs to be known in order for the probe
to be immersed deeply enough.
Values between 0.2 and 100 mm/min can be set for the search speed.

Acceleration due to gravity

The acceleration due to gravity describes the relationship between the measured
weight and the calculated mass. The default value corresponds to the mean earth
acceleration due to gravity of 9.80665 m/s
!
Local variations from this value will result in (slight) measured value errors, which is
why the applicable value for your location should be entered.
If you have installed LabDesk then you can use the software to calculate the
acceleration due to gravity. Select the menu item
and select the tab sheet
