CAUTION
l
Never hold the vehicle stationary while in
CVT on a hill with the accelerator, always
apply the parking brake and/or service
brake.
Parking
To park the vehicle, first bring it to a com-
plete stop, firmly apply the parking brake,
and then move the selector lever to the "P"
(Park) position.
If you are going to leave the vehicle unatten-
ded, always switch off the engine and carry
the key.
NOTE
l
On a slope, be sure to apply the parking
brake before moving the selector lever to the
"P" (Park) position. If you move the selector
lever to the "P" (Park) position before apply-
ing the parking brake, it may be difficult to
disengage the selector lever from the "P"
(Park) position when next you drive the ve-
hicle, requiring application of a strong force
to the selector lever to move from the "P"
(Park) position.
When the CVT makes no speed
change
If the transmission does not change speeds
while driving, or your vehicle does not pick
up enough speed when starting on an uphill
slope, it may be that there is something un-
usual happening in the transmission, causing

a safety device to activate. We recommend
you to have your vehicle checked immediate-
ly.
S-AWC (Super All Wheel
Control)
S-AWC is an integrated vehicle dynamics
control system that helps enhance driving
performance, cornering performance, and ve-
hicle stability over a wide range of driving
conditions through integrated management of
the electronically controlled 4WD, the AYC
(Active Yaw Control), the ABS and the ASC.

Electronically Controlled 4WD
The electronically controlled 4WD is a sys-
tem that improves acceleration performance
E00622601198
and stability performance by controlling
front-rear distribution of driving torque with
operating the electronic control coupling ar-
ranged in the rear differential assembly.

CAUTION
Do not over-rely on the S-AWC. Even the S-
AWC cannot prevent the natural laws of
physics from acting on the vehicle. This sys-
tem, like any other system, has limits and
cannot help you to maintain traction and
control of the vehicle in all circumstances.
Reckless driving may lead to accidents. It is
the driver's responsibility to drive carefully.
This means taking into account the traffic,
road and environmental conditions.
NOTE
On vehicles equipped with the lever type
parking brake, if the parking brake lever is
pulled up while the vehicle is moving, the
front-rear distribution of driving torque con-
trol will be temporarily suspended, which
will allow the rear wheel to lock easier.
