When the vehicle in front starts moving or
when you depress the accelerator pedal, the
engine restarts automatically.
NOTE
l
On vehicles equipped with Brake auto hold,
if the Brake auto hold indication lamp turns
on, the engine will not restart automatically
even if you release the brake pedal.
l
While the ACC is operating, the engine will
not restart automatically even if you release
the brake pedal (on vehicles equipped with
ACC).
l
On vehicles with M/T, do not move the
gearshift lever to a position other than the
"N" (Neutral) position or do not release the
clutch pedal while the engine is restarting
automatically. The starter motor will stop
and the engine will not restart automatically.
l
If the engine does not restart automatically,
the warning display will appear in the infor-
mation screen of the multi-information dis-
play, and the charge warning lamp and
check engine warning lamp will illuminate.

CVT)
If this occurs:
[On vehicles equipped with M/T]
The engine will not restart even if the clutch
pedal is depressed again. While depressing
the brake pedal, fully depress the clutch ped-
al and turn the ignition switch to the
"START" position or press the engine
switch to start the engine.
[On vehicles equipped with CVT]
The engine will not restart even if release the
brake pedal again. Also, the
display blinks, and the buzzer sounds.
While depressing the brake pedal, move the
selector lever to the "P" (Park) or "N" (Neu-
tral) position and turn the ignition switch to
the "START" position or press the engine
switch to start the engine. After the engine is
started, the buzzer stops.
But the
indicator display is blinking
until turning the ignition switch to the
"LOCK" position or putting the operation
mode in OFF.

Auto Stop & Go (AS&G) system
NOTE
l
The vehicles equipped with CVT have the
function of preventing the unexpected start
of the vehicle due to creeping, etc., by tem-
porarily maintain the braking force applied
when the engine restarts automatically.
This function is deactivated if the selector
lever is set into "N" (Neutral) position.
While the function is activated, you might
hear operation noise from under the vehicle
or feel a shock from the brake pedal.
This indicates that the system is operating
normally. It does not indicate a malfunction.
CAUTION
l
In the following cases, the engine will restart
automatically even if the engine was stopped
by the AS&G system. Pay attention, other-
wise an unexpected accident might occur
when the engine restarts.
Vehicle speed is 3 km/h (2 mph) or higher
indicator
when coasting down a slope
Brake booster vacuum pressure is low be-
cause the brake pedal is depressed repeat-
edly or depressed harder than usual
Engine coolant temperature is low
When the air conditioner is operated by
pressing the air conditioning switch
When the preset temperature of the air
conditioner is changed significantly
