Decimal multiples and parts of units can be made by adding prefixes in front of the unit symbols.
Prefixes
Examples:
1. Unit m (meter). By adding prefix k (kilo) we have km (kilometer 7 1,000 m).
2. Unit s (second). By adding prefix m (milli) we have ms (millisecond = l/1000 s).
