Determining Thickness of Shims for Bearing Assembly
Note
The adjustment of bearing assembly is important
for axial play of automatic trammission. Conse-
quently the thickness of shims has to be determined
again after repairing or replacing a bearing
assembly.
Use a depth gauge to measure distance from taper
roller bearing surface to bearing flange surface
(e.g. 34.55 mm). Since the design calls for a
distance of only 34 1. 0.05 mm, a shim 0.55 mm
thick has to be used.
