tang on the end of the throttle body lever fits into an
opening in the bracket on the synchronization shaft
(Fig. 10).

(7) Slide throttle body back off of mounting studs.
Separate the throttle body from the synchronization
shaft. Remove throttle body.
(8) Clean gasket from mating surfaces.
INSTALLATION
Prior to installing the right throttle body, re-
move and clean the left throttle body. Refer to
Cleaning Coked Throttle Bodies in this section.
(1) Position new gasket over throttle body mounting
studs.
(2) Connect throttle body to synchronization shaft.
Ensure ball stud on throttle body shaft enters socket in
end of synchronization shaft. At the same time, the
tang on the throttle lever locks into the bracket on the
synchronization shaft (Fig. 10).
(3) Install throttle body over mounting studs.
(4) Tighten mounting nuts to 26 N¼m (19 ft. lbs)
torque.
(5) Connect purge tube to nipple on throttle body.
(6) Attach electrical connector to throttle position
sensor.
(7) Check throttle body synchronization. Refer to
Throttle Body Synchronization in this section.
(8) Install air plenum.
(9) Install air cleaner to air plenum tube.
(10) Connect negative cable to battery.
THROTTLE BODY SYNCHRONIZATION—
3.5L ENGINE
Synchronize the throttle bodies if there is a gap between
the adjustment screw and the linkage lever (Fig. 12 and
Fig. 13). Also, synchronize the throttle bodies after remov-
ing and installing the throttle bodies.
(1) Install .004 inch feeler gauge between the idle
speed screw and throttle lever on the right throttle
body (Fig. 11).

(2) Loosen the adjustment screw locknut on the
synchronization shaft (Fig. 12).

(3) Turn adjustment screw until it just contacts the
lever on the synchronization shaft. Tighten the lock-
nut to 4 N¼m (36 in. lbs.) torque.
(4) Check clearance between the throttle lever and
the idle speed screw. The 0.004 inch feeler gauge
should drag when removed. Also, a 0.006 inch feeler
gauge should not fit between throttle lever and idle
speed screw.
FUEL RAIL—3.3L ENGINE
REMOVAL
(1) Release fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel
System Pressure Release Procedure in this section.
(2) Disconnect negative cable from battery.
(3) Disconnect air plenum from air cleaner and
throttle body.
