Troubleshooting
Symptoms
Fax was not transmitted.
If the problem persists, for online support information, go to

Symptoms
The fax received by the recipient is
blank.
The printer answers the call but
does not print the fax.

Probable Causes
The system software for your
printer needs updating.
The fax number is wrong.
The telephone line is connected
incorrectly.
There is a problem with the fax
machine of the recipient.
The fax feature is not installed or
is not enabled.
Server fax is enabled.
An access number is required to
connect to an outside line.
The fax number needs a pause
between the prefix for an outside
line and the telephone number.
Probable Causes
There is a problem with the
telephone connection or with the
fax machine of the sender.
The sender loaded the pages
incorrectly.
The memory is full.

Solutions
Download the latest version of the
system software. For details, refer

Verify the fax number.
Verify the telephone line
connection. If the telephone line is
disconnected, connect it.
Contact the recipient.
Ensure that the fax feature is
installed and enabled.
Ensure that server fax is disabled.
If the printer is connected to a
PBX system, it could be necessary
to enter a number to access the
outside telephone line.
To insert a pause, touch the Dial
Pause button. A comma ( ,)
appears in the corresponding
location.

Solutions
Verify that the printer can make
clean copies. If it can, have the
sender fax the document again.
Contact the sender.
To increase available memory,
delete stored jobs and wait for the
existing jobs to complete.
