If a foot switch is to be used with the instrument, insert the foot switch
connecting jack (→ "Fig. 18-2")

Tip
If neither the dummy plug nor the foot switch is connected, the instrument is not ready for operation.
In this case, the emergency stop function is activated and the
instrument is illuminated; the memory position is erased and the three-digit display indicates
shortly.
