Electrostatic Discharge
Digital devices are susceptible to damage from electrostatic discharge (ESD); certain precautions
must be taken when handling circuit cards, integrated circuits (ICs), and other sensitive devices.
The maintenance technician should conform to the following guidelines when handling ESD
sensitive devices:
1. Always wear a static protection wristband prior to contact with any electrostatic
sensitive device;
2. Ensure that the wristband cable clip is firmly attached to a grounding point;
3. Keep all sensitive components in their protective pouches until required.
