Configuring L3 HVR/SVR Fixed FRM/SFRM Capsules

To begin setting up an L3 HVR/SVR Fixed FRM/SFRM Capsule support:
1. Open Notepad;
2. Locate the file <C:\Windows\vdrparams.ini>;
3. Open the file using Notepad;
4. Locate the [STORAGE] section of the open file; and
5. Set the entries that must be set as shown below:
[STORAGE]
hardenedStorage = 1
hardenedFormat = 1
secondaryHardenedFormat = 4

Start Recording to the L3 HVR/SVR Fixed FRM/SFRM Capsule

1. Start the VDR_Record application from the desktop;
2. Observe the following messages are presented in the Log Window:
a. The L3 HVR/SVR Fixed FRM/SFRM Capsule is ready,
b. Successfully saved <vdrparams.ini> to the L3 capsule,
c. Successfully saved vdr-cfg.txt to the L3 capsule;
3. Minimize the VDR_Record application;
4. Open the error log;
5. Observe the following messages are written in the error log:
a. Stream audio (type AUDIO) connected,
b. Stream nmea (type NMEA) connected,
c. Stream video (type VIDEO) connected,
d. The L3 HVR is ready.
e. Successfully saved <vdrparams.ini> to the L3 capsule, and
f.
Successfully saved <vdr-cfg.txt> to the L3 capsule;
6. Allow the VDR to record to the L3 HVR/SVR Fixed FRM/SFRM Capsule for 12
continuous hours.

Confirm the L3 HVR/SVR Fixed FRM/SFRM Capsule is Recording

1. Allow the VDR to record for 12 continuous hours.
2. Stop recording after 12 hours by deselecting Record under the test menu of the
VDR_Record application.
3. Minimize the VDR_Record application.
4.
Open the FRM download application via the Start menu (Start > Programs > Utilities);
5. Choose the data stream(s) to download Audio, Video, and NMEA data or individual
streams:
For example, to download only the Audio stream, deselect the "Download NMEA" and
"Download Video" stream options leaving only the "Download Audio" stream option
checked. If all 3 options are checked, all 3 streams will be downloaded.
