Device Location
Enter the location of the depth device onboard the ship.

Talker ID
The first two alphanumeric characters of the NMEA sentence 'Address Field' identify the Talker.
Note! When entering the Talker ID for a depth device, these two letters will
typically be "SD".

DataMux Channel
Enter the DataMux channel that the depth device is connected to.

String to Use for Depth
From the drop down box select the string that depth information is collected from. Options
available for selection are DBT (Depth Below Transducer) or DPT (Depth).
DBT – Water depth referenced to the transducer

DPT – Water depth relative to the transducer and offset of the measuring transducer. Positive
offset numbers provide the distance from the transducer to the waterline. Negative offset
numbers provide the distance from the transducer to the part of the keel of interest.

Sample of Depth String
Enter a sample of the depth string. See example DBT and DPT string formats provided in String
to Use for Depth provided above.

Configure Heading Device
Clicking the Configure Heading Device tab opens the Configure Heading Information data entry
window (see Figure A2- 19 - Configure Heading Device below). This window requires the input of
information relevant to the ship's heading.
