Setting Up Shared Extensions

Opening this page: From the navigation pane, choose Buttons > Shared
Extensions.
Shared Extension Overview
The group can be contacted by entering the group extension from any
phone in the system or choosing the extension from the directory.
The group can be contacted from an external phone, if the group is
specified as a call target for an AA menu option, an inbound call routing
group, a phone button, or a call forwarding option.
An incoming call will ring all members' phones simultaneously.
All members can monitor the status of a call. If a call is placed on hold on
one member's phone, it can be continued from another member's phone by
pressing the phone button for the extension.
Each group member will have one or more phone buttons to manage and
monitor the shared extension.
Label: Enter a description. It will appear on the phone display to identify the
shared extension button.
Shared Extension Settings
Click the Shared Extension Settings button to open this section. To close
this section, click the button again.
Extension: Enter an extension number for the shared extension.
Extension numbers must be unique and must comply with the rules entered
on the Dialing > Dial Plan page. For more information, see
Internal Dialing, page
or duplicate extension number.
Number of Buttons/Calls: Choose the number of buttons to add to
members' phones. By default, one button is added. A button supports two
concurrent calls. Use the up-arrow or down-arrow to adjust the number of
buttons on the phone. The specified number of buttons will appear on the
phone and will be displayed on the Phone Buttons page for the members.
Shared Voicemail Box: Check the box to create a voicemail box for the
shared extension, or uncheck the box if a shared voicemail box is not
needed. The voicemail box number will be the same as the Shared
Extension number. To retrieve messages for this extension, dial the
Voicemail Pilot extension number, enter the mailbox number, followed by
