the
machine screw securing the
puck to
the
slave
piston; then remove puck.
NOTE: It may be necessary to heat the
machine screw in order to remove the
machine screw.

14. Thread the machine screw into the slave
piston; then using a ptiers, remove the
slave piston w/0-ring. Remove 0-ring from
the slave piston.

15. Remove the stationary puck from the chain
case.
NOTE: DO NOT remove the stationary
puck unless replacement is necessary.
CLEANING AND INSPECTING
NOTE: Whenever a part is worn excessive·
ly, cracked, defective, or damaged in any
way, replacement is necessary.

Inspect the bore of the caliper housing for
signs of roughness or scoring. Repair
minor roughness or scoring using crocus
cloth in a circular motion.

Inspect the slave piston for signs of
roughness or scoring. Repair minor rough-
ness or scoring using crocus cloth.

Inspect the caliper housing and master-
cylinder housing for cracks or any other im-
perfections in the castings.
4.
Inspect the hydraulic hose for cracks or
holes.
5.
Inspect all threaded areas for cracked or
stripped threads .

6.
Inspect the springs for cracks or unusual
bends.
7.
Inspect the brake puck for wear. Puck must
be at least 4.5 mm (0.18 in.) in width.
