Shock absorbers

REAR SUSPENSION INSPECTION
Inspect the rear suspension following the instruc-
tions on the scheduled maintenance table.
Check that the shock absorbers do not leak. Check
the tightening of all the elements and the correct
operation of the rear suspension joints.
REAR SUSPENSION ADJUSTMENT
The rear suspension consists of a double-acting
shock absorber (compression/rebound damping),
with silent-block engine mount. Standard rear
shock absorber setting is adjusted to suit most
high and low speed riding conditions, both with re-
duced and full vehicle load. It is at any rate possi-
ble to insert personal settings, depending on
vehicle utilisation: operate on the ring nut to define
the ideal running settings (see table).

Removal
Remove the tail section.
Unscrew and remove the upper nut
«1».
Remove the upper screw.
Undo and remove the lower screw «2».
Remove the shock absorber.
Locking torques (N*m)
Screw fixing shock absorber to chassis 40 ± 20% (29.5 ftlb)
Locking torques (N*m)
Screw fixing shock absorber brackets to engine 25 ± 20% (18.5 ftlb)
