Removing the SATA cable from the sled

Prerequisites
CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform troubleshooting and
simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service and support
team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety
instructions that are shipped with your product.
NOTE: Observe the routing of the cable as you remove it from the sled. Route the cable properly when you replace it to
prevent the cable from being pinched or crimped.
1.
Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions section.
2.
Follow the procedure listed in the Before working inside your system section.
3.
Remove the sled from the enclosure.
4.
Remove the air shroud.
Steps
1.
Open the cable retention lock to release the SATA cable.
2.
Press the clips on the cable connector to release the cable from the system board. Repeat this step with the connector on the
other end of the cable.
3.
Lift the SATA cable out of the sled.

Next steps
1.
Install the SATA cable.
2.
Install the air shroud.
3.
Install the sled into the enclosure.
