To ensure technician and user safety and to prevent the laser beam from
inadvertently switching on during service maintenance, there are four safety
switches located at the front and upper right covers. These four switches are in
series on the LD5 V line that comes from the power supply unit (PSU) through the
BICU board.
When opening either the front or upper right covers, the power supply to the laser
diode is interrupted.
