The transient recorder captures short duration events, such as faults at a high resolution.
Under normal operation, the transient recorder continuously captures pre-fault data and
stores this data in memory. When a trigger is received, the transient recorder captures the
data during the period of the fault. Both the pre-fault and fault data are stored as records
in non-volatile memory within the D90
The transient recorder captures the instantaneous values of all voltage and current signals

connected to the D90
. In addition, the user can configure digital and analog channels,
each of which can be used to trigger or re-trigger the transient recorder. A re-trigger
captures an additional record but with no pre-fault data. Triggered and re-triggered
records are merged into a single file, and the maximum number of re-triggers for a
particular fault is user-programmable.
