Disassembly is necessary only in the event of a mal-
function.

11 11 235 Checking clutch

•
Clean and dry clutch drum and clutch and check
for wear, damage and material removal.

Caution:
Make sure that linings remain free of oil and grease.

Check radial runout on variator shaft with dial
gauge and dial-gauge holder,
BMW No. 00 2 500.

Measure thickness of clutch lining.
Wear values:
Radial runout......................... max. 0.3 mm (0.01 in)

Inside diameter of clutch drum .. 134.6 mm (5.30 in)
Lining thin (h)................................. 2.5 mm (0.09 in)
Lining thick (H) .............................. 4.0 mm (0.16 in)

Note:
Replace the clutch if the springs are damaged or if
the weights are not uniformly positioned.
