Installing Variator; Installing Inner Plate Of Driving Variator - BMW C1 Repair Manual

Using holder, BMW No. 11 7 521, loosen nut of
outer plate of driving variator on crankshaft.
•
Remove outer plate from crankshaft.
•
Remove inner plate with spacer from crankshaft.

Caution:
Insert a cloth or piece of foam rubber between taper
plate and sealing cover to prevent the roller weights
from jamming.

Installing variator

Caution:
Make sure the belt contact faces are perfectly clean
and free from grease.

Installing inner plate of driving variator

•
Uniformly pack interior of bearing tube (spacer)
with grease.
•
Spray bearing journals on crankcase stub.

Note:
C1110410
Remove locating elements from driving variator.
•
Install variator.
•
Degrease threads of crankshaft.
•
Install outer plate.
•
Hold with holder, BMW No. 11 7 521, or use in-
sert pin, BMW No. 11 7 651.
•
Apply thread-locking compound to threads of
nut.
Operating fluids:
Bearing tube (spacer) ........Klüber paste 46 MR 401
Bearing journals ................Klüber paste 46 MR 401
Nut ........................................................ Loctite 243

Tightening torques:
Outer plate of variator .................................. 60 Nm
