12 11 077 Replacing freewheel

– Remove cover.
– Remove magnetic wheel.
•
Clamp the bottom of the magnetic housing in a
vise with protective jaws so that the securing
screws can be released.
•
Check friction face for wear.
•
Check freewheel for damage to the dogs.
•
Make sure that the circumferential spring is not
stretched.
When installing:
•
Make sure that thrust ring A engages recess in
freewheel housing.
•
Remove all traces of old thread-locking com-
pound from the threads.
Operating fluids:
Securing screws ................................... Loctite 243
X
Tightening torques:
Retaining screws.......................................... 30 Nm

Replacing starter double gear

Check bearing bore
•
Check teeth for distortion, wear and chipping.
•
Check straight pin.
Wear values:
Inside diameter ............... max. 10.08 mm (0.397 in)
Straight pin ....................... max. 9.95 mm (0.392 in)
When installing:
•
Oil straight pin.
•
Engage with splines of freewheel gear.
•
Mount spacing sleeve on straight pin.
