CHAPTER 4
Using the Gateway
Actuator Connections
Sensor Type Configuration
Adding Custom Sensors
AddIT RTUs can also be used to control actuators and to switch on
or off pumps, valves, or other similar devices. You can connect
actuators to digital, OC and SDI connector pins.
Note: Detailed information is contained in the user manuals of the
respective RTUs.
A sensor type determines the attributes of a class of sensors which
can be connected to a RTU for delivering specific measurement
data. As the output of a sensor depends not only on the magni-
tude of the measured variable, but also on the physical properties
and technology of the respective sensor, a conversion table (also
referred to as "linearization table") is used to represent the output
of the sensor as required for processing and further interpretation.
A conversion table may be valid for a singular sensor or for a whole
class of sensors (i.e., for a sensor type).
Several sensors (usually of different types) may be packed together
into a single device which will be designated as "combo sensor".
The sensor type configuration is required to determine the types of
sensors and conversion tables which can be used in the RTU net-
work. For Adcon sensors, type data and conversion tables are
already preprogrammed in your A850 at your disposal to allow a
quick connection of your RTUs. Detailed information about all sen-
sors available from Adcon can be achieved from Adcon's webside
"http://www.adcon.at/english/produkte_sensoren_en.html".
If you need to connect sensor types to your RTUs which are not
predefined Adcon standard sensor types, you must first define
your sensors in the "Sensor Type Configuration".
