Error Messages

Inspect the hub fault LED indicators for apparent problems. See the next
section. If the Fault LED goes on, the fans or the hub may be faulty or
the temperature may be out of limits.
Check that the GBICs are properly inserted.
Check the port status LEDs. Verify GBICs by testing with a loopback
connector to determine if the problem is with the cable or with the port.
Use Compaq Storage Hub 12 Management Utilities (HMU) to check
bypass status.
Figure D-1 is an illustration showing LED status indicators.

The following error messages may display on the terminal console attached to
the hub. They will be generated by the hub self-tests and would display
immediately following the tests. The syntax is nnnn /* xxxxxx */ where nnnn =
a 4-digit number and xxxxxx is a text string. Some are just informational while
others may indicate a problem that should be checked. The section below lists
them in numerical order. In most cases, they are accompanied by a brief
explanation of the message followed by suggested action.
