Compaq Storage Hub 12 Management Utilities (HMU) SAN Manager not
only permits you to observe what is happening in your Fibre Channel network,
but also permits you to control devices remotely and find faults in your
network. HMU's capabilities fall into three categories: Informational, Control,
and Diagnostic.
1. Informational Displays: There are four sets of informational displays
in HMU. These are:
a. The SAN View tab of HMU's GUI is the main window for keeping
track of the overall status of your network. Two buttons on it display
the status of all of the devices either graphically in the View Devices
by Connection window or in a tabular format with the View
Devices by Name window. The Context Menu is available in both
of these windows. This menu gives access to other windows that
offer further information and diagnostic functions.
b. Display Network View is one of the sets of windows accessed from
the Context Menu. It contains four tab pages that present network
status on an individual device level. These tab pages allow the
monitoring of traffic levels on the network as well as the activity of
various FC-AL (Fibre Channel Arbitrated Loop) primitives. In
addition, there are a number of additional control functions.
c. The Event Log tab is the second tab on HMU's GUI window.
Clicking on it displays a log of events that have occurred since the
last time HMU was started.
