Finding the Firmware Version Numbers

Downloading Device Agent Firmware

Determine the firmware versions of the Compaq Storage Hub 12 hub and
HMM from either the Compaq Storage Hub 12 Management Utilities (HMU)
View System ID Tab for the device or the hub's main menu.
Follow the steps below to load new device agent firmware. This procedure
updates the firmware in the HMM and must be run on the HMM if it does not
have the most recent firmware. Update the HMM device agent firmware
before updating the Compaq Storage Hub 12 hub controller firmware.
1. Place the new firmware on a file system that is available to the PC
management workstation that will be connected to the hub. The device
agent firmware is distributed on the Compaq website, www.compaq.com.
The most recent version of the firmware can be found on the website.
2. Connect a serial port on the PC via a null modem cable to the RS-232
serial port on the HMM. There is an explanation of how to do this is in
the Compaq Storage Hub 12 Management Module installation
instructions. Establish a terminal emulation session.
3. Press the Reset button located on the upper left side of the hub. The
system will run the self-test. Press Enter on your keyboard within a few
seconds to display the Boot Menu.
4. From the Boot Menu, select 1 Download and update Device Agent
code.
If you are using a HyperTerminal window, select Transfer, Send Text File.
Open the file to be transferred. Otherwise, follow your terminal emulator's
procedure for an ASCII download.
NOTE: The download may take about 10 minutes. Follow the instructions on the dialog
box to complete the transfer.
Reset the hub again by entering 4 Reset hub and run self test. The system
will run the self-tests, display device-specific information, and display the Hub
Main Menu (unless Enter on your keyboard is pressed, which will display the
Boot Menu instead).
Once the agent has been upgraded, select 5 Start normal hub operation.
IMPORTANT: If for any reason the download is corrupted and the master unit is
temporarily non-operational, repeat the download.
