Managing with Compaq Storage Hub 12
Management Utilities (HMU) SAN
Manager
Once the SNMP agent on the hub is configured, it will be set up for remote
management via the Compaq Storage Hub 12 Management Utilities (HMU).
Information on installing and using HMU to manage the Compaq Storage Hub
12 can be found in the earlier chapters of this guide.
IMPORTANT: Whenever changing Community Name values, make sure that other staff
members who use HMU are told the new Community Names. The HMU interface will
enforce verification before performing the SNMP functions.
Changing Management Options
To change the management defaults, select 3 Management Options from the
Hub Main Menu. The Management Options Menu will be displayed. The
submenus are explained below.
Selecting 1 goes back to the Hub Main Menu.
Selecting 2 presents the Set SNMP get Community Name. This menu
does not show the old get Community Name. We have simply set it to
the default for example's sake.
Choosing 3 presents the Set SNMP set Community Name. As in the set
Community Name, the old name is not displayed in this menu, and we
are setting it to the default for example's sake.
Set SNMP set community name Menu.
Selecting 4 presents the Set SNMP trap Community Name. As in the set
Community Name, the old name is not displayed in this menu, and we
are setting it to the default for example's sake.
Selecting 5 lets you see as well as enter or delete the IP addresses for
any management stations to which you want traps sent. Clear the IP
addresses with choice 8 of the Management Options Menu.
NOTE: The management station must be on the same subnet as this hub.
Selecting 6 presents the SNMP MIB-2. This menu displays the name of
the current SNMP MIB-2 sysName, if there is one.
