2 G700 Media Gateway: Initial Network Set-Up
To assign IP addresses to the VoIP resources located on the Media Modules, use the same
command sequence to identify each one. The numbers of the resources have been assigned on the
planning forms.
For example:
set interface voip vX 132.236.73.4
where vX is the slot number for the VoIP media module.

Note: It is not necessary to configure the VLAN, netmask, or IP routes for VoIP engines.
The media gateway parameters are applied automatically.

Checking for IP Connections

After you have assigned IP addresses to the Cajun Stack Processor, the G700 Media Gateway, and the VoIP
resources, do the following to check for IP connections:

At the MG-mmm-n(config)# prompt
Type ping mgp <IP_address>

where IP_address is the address of an S8300 or S8700 server or any other functioning endpoint
accessible on the customer's LAN. It is recommended to ping endpoints on both the same subnet
and a different subnet.
Ping results appear on the screen, similar to the following example.

PING 135.122.49.55: 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 135.122.49.55: icmp_seq=0. time=0. ms
64 bytes from 135.122.49.55: icmp_seq=1. time=0. ms
64 bytes from 135.122.49.55: icmp_seq=2. time=0. ms
64 bytes from 135.122.49.55: icmp_seq=3. time=0. ms
64 bytes from 135.122.49.55: icmp_seq=4. time=0. ms

round-trip (ms) min/avg/max = 0/0/0
Check that the same number of packets transmitted were also received.
