5 Upgrading/Downloading Software/Firmware: Setting Up the External TFTP Server (If Necessary)

Upgrading the G700 Media Gateway

To upgrade the software of the G700 Media Gateway and the Media Modules, you will first need to transfer
the new software files from a TFTP server (either the S8300 server or an external TFTP server) to G700
Media Gateway processor. Consult any release letters for the most recent information and instructions for
upgrades. The release letters will be with the planning documentation.
The procedures below guide you through transferring files from the S8300 Media Server to the G700 Media
Gateway processor.
Upgrade Files to the Cajun Processor
Begin
Load files as described in "Setting Up the External TFTP Server (If Necessary)" on page 77 or

Telnet to the P330 Stack processor.

To backup your configuration files on the G700 Media Gateway, type the following commands at

the P330-1 (super)# prompt:
copy stack-config tftp <filename> <ip address>
copy module-config tftp <filename> <ip address> <module #>
where <module#> is the location of the P330 in the stack, starting with 1, counting from the
bottom up.

At the P330-1(super)# prompt, type

copy tftp SW_image<file> EW_archive <ew_file>
<tftp_server_address> <Module#>
where <file> is the image file with format and vintage number similar to viisa3_8_2.exe,
<ew_file> is an embedded web application file with format similar to p330Tweb.3.8.6.exe,
and <tftp_server_address> is the ip address of the external tftp server or the S8300, and the
<Module#> is the number, 1 through 10, of the media gateway in the stack.
Verify that the download was successful when the prompt returns. Type show image

The P330 Cajun stack processor will reset. The LEDs will flash and self-tests will run.
