Transfer Files from an External Web Server
Begin
Login to the web interface of the S8300 Media Server and navigate through the preliminary

screens to reach the main menu.
Choose Download Files to Server (from Web) under Miscellaneous on the left pane of the

main menu.
Type the complete URL to the file name to be downloaded.

Click Load File.

These files are large and can take some time to load. When the files are successfully transferred,
the status screen will be displayed that indicates that the software has been successfully
downloaded.

Installing Software on the S8300

Once the updated software file (with a .tar extension) has been transferred to the S8300 Media Server, it is
then available to be installed.
Install New Software
Begin
Choose Install New Software Release from the left pane of the main menu.

Select the appropriate offer from the choices listed on the Choose Software screen.

Click the radio button next to I will supply the license/authentication files myself when

prompted later in this process on the Choose License Source screen.
Continue through the Review Notices and Warning screens. Consult the online help system

Click Continue at the Begin Installation screen which summarizes the request you have

Watch the progress of the installation on the Install in Progress screen.

The Install in Progress screen refreshes every 5 seconds or on demand by clicking the
Refresh button. The installation will take approximately 10 minutes.
Accept the upgrade by clicking Reboot on the Reboot Server screen.

Monitor the LEDs on the S8300 for progress on the installation. You might also ping continuously
to see when the installation is complete.
