Comments
If the G700 has a local spare processor, follow
the procedures in "Installing License Files" on
page 57. If the G700 does not have a local spare
processor, go to "Task 12 — Assign the CLAN
Node Name and IP Address".
If the G700 is a local spare processor, follow the
procedure in "Verifying Ethernet Access to
MultiVantage" on page 61.
Note: No other administration on the SAT is
required on the G700 for a local spare
processor. All phone administration, feature
administration, and so on is performed on the
S8700. The S8700 then downloads this
information to the local spare processor
automatically.
This task assigns a node name and IP address to
the CLAN circuit pack(s) that connect to the G700
Media Gateway. The Node Names screen is on
the S8700 switch.
The node names and IP addresses in any
network should be assigned in a logical and
consistent manner from the point of view of the
whole network. If possible, these names and
addresses should be assigned in the planning
stages of the network and should be available
from the customer system administrator or an
Avaya representative.
The IP interface for the C-LAN board on the
switch must be defined on the IP Interfaces
screen.
You will need to know the Network Region to
which you will assign the G700. Follow the
procedures in "Defining the IP Network Region"
on page 62. Use the commands list ip-
network-region and change ip-network-
region <region-number>.
This task administers the G700 Media Gateway at
the S8700, and may be performed prior to the
physical installation of the Media Gateway at the
customer's site.
