If you store the machine for more than 30 days:
1. Ensure that the key switch is in the O
2. Disconnect the ground (-) cable from the battery terminal first, then
disconnect the positive (+) cable from the battery terminal.
3. Charge the battery fully before storage; refer to
5–35).
4. Store the battery in the appropriate environment:
• If temperatures are expected to drop below freezing for an extended
period, remove the battery from the machine and store the battery on a
shelf in an environment above freezing.
• If temperatures are expected to remain above freezing, you may leave the
battery on the machine with the battery cables disconnected.

The battery is the heart of the electrical system. With the regular and correct
service, the battery life can be extended. Additionally, the battery and electrical
component failure can be prevented.
Battery-electrolyte is corrosive and can burn skin and eyes and
damage clothing.
While working with the batteries, use extreme caution to avoid
splashing or spilling of the electrolyte. Always wear the safety
goggles and a face shield while working with batteries.
