Seat switch
The seat switch is a normally open switch that closes when the operator is on the
seat. If the function control lever is moved out of N
opens) when the operator raises out of the seat, the engine magneto will divert
the ignition circuit to ground and the engine will stop. The seat switch is mounted
to the seat pan directly under the seat.
1. Park the machine on a level surface and lower the cutting units. Make sure
the engine is off and the key switch is in the OFF position.
2. Raise the seat and disconnect the wire harness connector from the seat
switch; refer to
Figure
3. Check the continuity of the switch by connecting a multimeter (ohms setting)
across the switch terminals.
A. With no operator in the seat, there should be no continuity between the
terminals.
B. Press directly onto the seat switch through the seat cushion. There should
be continuity as the seat cushion approaches the bottom of its travel.
4. Replace the switch if necessary.

If the seat switch tests correctly and a circuit problem still exists, check the
wire harnesses; refer to
6. Connect the wire harness to the switch before returning the machine to
service.
