Ensure sensor is fitted correctly and
connector is secure.
Disconnect ECM and proceed to
pinpoint test 1:

Faulty Rectify fault, proceed to test 6
2 Check cable for short circuit: OK Proceed to test 3
- ECM pin AOl to earth Short circuit Locate and rectify wiring fault, proceed to
- ECM pin A09 to earth
test 6
3 Check cable continuity: OK Proceed to test 4
- ECM pin AOl to sensor pin 2 Open circuit
Locate and rectify wiring fault, proceed to
- ECM pin A09 to sensor pin 1
test 6
4 Check cable for short circuit: OK
Renew crankshaft sensor, proceed to test 6
- ECM pin AOl to ECM pin A09 Short circuit
Locate and rectify wiring fault, proceed to
test 6
5 Check crankshaft toothed wheel: OK Proceed to test 6
- Damage to teeth - magnetic debris
contamination
Faulty Clean/renew toothed wheel, proceed to test 6
6 ReconAect harness, clear fault code and run OK
Action complete - quit test
engine to verify fault cleared
Fault still present
