Fit the rebound spring to the damper rod then insert
the assembly into the inner tube.

Thoroughly clean and examine all components for
damage, wear, scoring, corrosion
etc., paying
particular attention to the bushes and damper rod
piston ring. Renew as necessary.
2.
Always renew the oil seal, dust seal and the damper
rod bolt sealing washer every time the fork is
dismantled.
Assembly

The front forks comprise many preCision machined
parts. Total cleanliness must be observed at all times
and, assembly must take place in a dirt/dust-free
environment.
Dirt ingress may cause damage to the fork parts, leading
to incorrect operation, instability, loss of control or an
accident.
Note:
During assembly of the fork, tool T3880131
will be used extensively. In the text, reference
to a plain end and a stepped end will be made.
This describes the two ends of the tool as
shown in the diagram below.

If removed, refit the lower bush to the inner tube.
2.
Lubricate the damper rod piston ring and the upper
and lower bushes with clean fork oil.

Fit the seat securely to the end of the damper rod
then insert the inner tube assembly into the outer
tube.
5.
Fit a new sealing washer to the damper rod bolt then
apply locking compound IThreeBond 1342) to the
bolt threads.
6.
Ensure the damper rod and seat are correctly located
in the outer tube then fit the damper rod.

Slide the top bush along the inner tube and locate it
in the outer tube. Drift the bush into position using
the stepped end of tool T3880131.
