Cooling
Do not remove the coolant pressure cap when the
engine is hot. When the engine is hot, the coolant inside
the cooling system is hot and also under pressure.
Contact with hot coolant will cause scalds and skin
damage.
11.
Stop the engine and allow it to cool. Top up the
coolant level as necessary.
12. Refit the coolant pressure cap.
13. Lower and secure the fuel tank (see page 10-86).
14. Check the expansion tank level and top up if
necessary (see page 11-5>.
Water Pump
Removal
Before starting work, ensure the motorcycle is stabilised
and adequately supported. This will help prevent it from
falling and causing injury to the operator or damage to
the motorcycle.
1.
Remove the rider's seat (see page 17-8>.
2.
Disconnect the battery, negative (black> lead first.
Do not remove the coolant pressure cap when the
engine is hot. When the engine is hot, the coolant inside
the radiator is hot and also under pressure. Contact with
hot coolant will cause scalds and skin damage.
3.
Drain the coolant (see page 11-6>.
4.
Remove the sump (see page 8-10).
5.
Release the three bolts securing the water pump to
the crankcase.
