3. Cassette Lifter Operation
As long as the cassette is set, the cassette lifter is operated as necessary during copying operation so
as to maintain the level of the paper stack at a specific position.
a. Lifter Movement during Copying
The stack surface is maintained at a specific height by operating the lifter during copying as follows:
The lifter movement starts when the pick-up roller shaft pushes the lifter trigger lever to release the
cam.
The lifter movement ends when the cassette runs out of copy paper.
1) As copy paper runs out, the movement of the pick-up roller increases.

2) The stack surface lowers further and the pick-up roller shaft lowers accordingly, causing the pick-up
roller shaft to push the lifter trigger lever. This movement frees the cam so that the cam starts to rotate.
