The printer is fi tted with a number of interfaces:
• Operator interface consisting of the display, the keyboard and
the beeper, see Chapter 2.
• Cutter Interface for connection of an optional paper cutter, see
Chapter 11.
• Bar Code Wand interface for connection of an EasySet bar code
wand, see Chapter 15.4.
• Memory Card interface for connection of a memory card, see
Chapter 15.4.
• Electronic Key interface for connection of one or two electronic
keys, see Chapter 15.4.
• RS-232 Serial Communication interface ("uart1:") for commu-

reader, an external keyboard etc., see Chapter 16.2.
• Parallel Communication interface ("centronics:") for parallel
one-way communication with the host computer, see Chapter

• Optional interface boards, see Chapter 16.4-16.7.
The rest of this Chapter will only deal with the three last para-

By default, "uart1:" is the standard IN and OUT communication
port. To select another communication port as standard IN and/or
standard OUT port, use an Intermec Fingerprint SETSTDIO state-
ment (see Intermec Fingerprint v7.xx, Reference Manual.) Note
that many application programs, for example Intermec Shell, con-
tains instructions that select the correct std I/O for the application
in question.
