Chapter 5
Control Contact (Dry Contact)
MBC -6-04
The system has one contact (referred to as a "Dry Contact") that can be used to trigger
ancillary devices for various applications. (E.g. Loud Bell Control—the ringing of an
auxiliary bell for system ringing conditions.) The contact can be programmed to
operate in association with the following system functions:
Data Range:
Factory Setting.
Press chg to select.
Note:
Location To Directory (Port to Extension)
MBC - 6 - 5
All of the resources of the system are identified for access using a directory
numbering system. This numbering system has been overlaid upon the various
resources according to the location of that resource in the system architecture. Use this
database parameter to swap the identify of a resource allocation based on location for
any of the system extensions.
The system location mapping is as follows:
Location To Directory - Locations
Location of each module
Location 1 = Main Board
Location 2 = 308E (first)
Location 3 = 308E (second)
Location 4 = Option Board
Location 5 = Voice Mail Board
The various circuits of each location are numeric references beginning with 1 and
ending with the last possible port for the location (e.g. Main Board has extension ports
1 - 10). The default (factory) allocation of directory numbers for the resources are
charted on the next page:
Loud Bell Control.
External Music Source Switch.
External Page Interface Control.
Dry Contact: L.B./EXT/PAGE.
Dry Contact: L.B.
The contact is rated at 0.5A & 24V DC. When set for LBC operation, the CO
Lines that are to activate the contact when ringing must also be programmed
for "Loud Bell Y". A Loud Bell requires an external power source. When set for
External Music Source Switch, the contact will "Make" (close) whenever a CO
Line is placed on hold to control external messaging-on-hold devices. When
set for External Page Interface Control, the contact will "Make" (close)
whenever a system user accesses the External Paging port. This allows the
ancillary amplifier to be switched on and off.
