7 = Extension Programming
At default, the OM-VML comes with 30 individual extensions and 9 department
extensions. Additional extensions may be added for users that may not have a physical
telephone but would like to have voice mail messages left at the office for them. These
users have a Virtual Extension.
The system will confirm that it is using two digit extension numbers. Press 1 to
confirm this but DO NOT CHANGE THIS PARAMETER!
1 Add multiple extensions - Enter the beginning and the end numbers of the
group of extensions to be added. For example, 35 - 40.
2 Add one extension at a time - Enter the extension to be added.
Use the following steps to create a Virtual Extension:
1. Enter Administrative programming.
2. Make sure that the extensions have been created.
3. Enter the mailbox using 7* plus * and the mailbox number, and mailbox pass-
word. Select 9 for Direct Message Delivery.
From the Auto Attendant: The caller will go directly to the mailbox if the extension
number is dialed .
To transfer the caller directly to the mailbox: The attendant dials Transfer 7* and the
mailbox number and then hangs up. The outside caller should hear the users personal
greeting.
Users without extensions pick up their messages remotely by dialing * plus the
mailbox number and their password.
8 = Department Programming
The voice mail system has a comprehensive Call Routing Menu which is available
with all greetings. Once a greeting is played, the Call Routing Menu is presented to
the caller allowing them to dial an individual extension or department mailbox.
There are a total of 10 department mailboxes; the first 5 dept mailboxes = 70, 71, 77,
78, and 79 are not associated with an individual extension or hunt group and the
second 5 dept mailboxes = 72, 73, 74, 75, and 76 which are associated with hunt
groups 82, 83, 84, 85, and 86 respectively.
A department mailbox can be used as a mailbox for an individual that does not have
an extension on the telephone system or as a mailbox for a group of extensions. When
a department mailbox is dialed, the telephone system transfers the caller to the
associated extension or hunt group.
