Items to consider when grounding the system:
Request isolated ground receptacles for all telephone equipment in new
construction.
Any rise in ground potential, or power induction of electrical current induced in
twisted pair telephone cable when using feeder cables will not be properly drained
if the system is not grounded.
Any transient rise in ground and voltage potential due to lightning or commercial
electrical surge will not be properly drained if the system is not grounded.
The shortest and most direct path to ground provides a lower impedance
connection (resistive and inductive) to earth.
Ground all equipment that is connected to the Omega-Phone 924 system. This
will provide improved ground equalization between products in a multi-product
installation.
Equipment will be damaged to some degree if the system is subject to adverse
electrical surges or spikes if the equipment is not grounded.
Effective earth potential is required to operate analog circuits as earth potential is
used as the basic means of signaling.
Effective ground reference is important in multi-product installations to prevent
ground loops from occurring.
Note:
IMPORTANT: When running ground cables, ensure the ground cable/ground
wires are not pinched or bent at right angles. Severe bends in the wires/
cables can adversely affect the ability of the ground to function properly.
Note:
An optional lightning arrester unit installed on CO lines is recommended in
areas where lightning is common. This will protect trunk interface cards.
