Clearance between Valve Stem and Valve Guide
1. Clean carbon from the valve guide and valve stem.
2. Measure the valve stem O.D. with an outside micrometer.
3. Measure the valve guide I.D. of the cylinder head at the most
wear part as shown in the figure below with a small hole gauge.
4. Calculate the clearance.
5. If the clearance exceeds the allowable limit, replace the valves.
6. If it still exceeds the allowable limit, replace the valve guide.
