Removal Procedures

Printhead Carriage Assembly

To remove the printhead carriage assembly, follow the steps below and refer
to Figure 26.
1. Remove the top cover assembly (page 52).
2. Remove the printhead (page 54).
3. Remove the ribbon adjustment shaft screw (1) and the ribbon adjustment
shaft (2).
4. Detach the printhead spring (3) from the printhead carriage assembly (4)
by pushing the spring downward and off the carriage assembly.
5. Remove the three remaining screws (5) and the side plate (6).
NOTE: In the next step, carefully note the routing of the printhead data/power
6. Remove the printhead carriage assembly (4).
To replace the printhead carriage assembly:
1. Slide the printhead data/power cable through the printhead carriage.
2. Position the printhead carriage assembly (4) by inserting the pivot shaft
(7) into the hole in the center panel.
3. Install the side plate (6) on the pivot shaft (7). Install the side plate screws
(5) finger tight.
4. Install the printhead spring (3) by lifting the printhead carriage and
pushing the spring downward and inward until it engages the edge of the
carriage assembly.
5. Install the ribbon adjustment shaft (2) in the "D" cutout of the center panel.
Install the ribbon adjustment shaft screw (1) finger tight.
6. Install the printhead (page 54).
7. Check and adjust ribbon wrinkle (page 45).
8. Install the top cover assembly.
