Cleaning The Printer

Clean The Thermal Printhead

A clean printhead ensures good print quality. The operator must routinely
clean the printhead when installing a new roll of ribbon (Thermal Transfer
mode) or when installing a new roll of media (Direct Thermal mode).
1. Open the printhead assembly by pushing the release latch toward the
rear of the printer. (See Figure 3.)
2. Remove any labels loaded in the printer. Hand rewind the labels back
onto the roll. (Refer to the User's Manual .)
3. Using a soft, lint-free cloth or cotton swab moistened with isopropyl
alcohol, or a Cleaning Pen, gently remove dust and dirt from the critical
surface of the printhead and the LEDs, as shown in Figure 3.
4. Make sure the printhead is dry and free of lint before restoring the printer
to normal operation.
