Removal Procedures

Ribbon Take-Up Pulley

The ribbon take-up pulley has 60 teeth. To replace the ribbon take-up pulley,
follow the steps below and refer to Figure 25.
1. Remove the top cover assembly (page 52).
2. Rotate the tension idler pulley (1) counter-clockwise to provide enough
slack to remove the ribbon drive belt (2) from the ribbon take-up pulley
(3).
3. Rotate the ribbon take-up pulley (3) until the set screw is visible.
4. Using a 5/64-inch hex wrench, loosen the set screw and remove the
ribbon take-up pulley (3) from the shaft.
To install the ribbon take-up pulley, follow the steps below and refer to Figure
25.
1. Slide the ribbon take-up pulley (3) onto the shaft.
2. Hold the ribbon take-up tube against the shaft support housing.
3. Put a 0.005 inch shim between the pulley and the shaft support housing.
4. Put a small dab of service-removable thread locking compound on the
pulley set screw and torque the set screw to 11 inch-pounds. Remove the
shim.
5. Rotate the tension idler pulley (1) counter-clockwise to provide slack and
install the ribbon drive belt (2) onto the ribbon take-up pulley (3).
6. Install the top cover assembly.
